  • MAU-SO-MOTHERFUCKING-LE-UM! If you've been around these parts for a while, I don't need to tell you about my love for Mausoleum. But maybe you're new, or maybe you don't need to hear about my love for Mausoleum but you want to hear about my love for Mausoleum? Regardless, my love for Mausoleum: it is deep, it is wide, it is true. Neon crypts, corn teeth (my favorite), Marjoe fucking Gorner disco-dancing, a show-stealing LaWanda Page, wanton use of the term "facial fantasy"...Mausoleum has it all and much more. I am so glad to see it here.
  • This chunk o' list is so good! Let Sleeping Corpses Lie, Lovely Molly, Jennifer, KILLER PARTY...there are a lot of my beloveds on display today.
  • There's also some very intriguing films I have yet to see! Morgiana, Monday, and Midnight Offerings, which I have not seen despite the fact that it is a made-for-TV horror movie starring Melissa Sue Anderson, Marion Ross, and Gordon Jump as "Sherm!" What is wrong with me?? (Don't answer that.)
  • I always think Lord of Illusions is a Wes Craven movie but it never is!
  • Klute is today's genre-bending "Wha? Huh?" title, but who cares? If its inclusion here gets someone to watch Klute for the first time, then the whole dang month is worth it.
  • I cannot let Mama appear on this page and not give a shout out to Hot Topic Jessica Chastain. Hot Topic Jessica Chastain 4ever!

I enjoyed John Dies at the End. It captures pretty much all of the menacing unreality of the novel, and it goes by much faster. I’m not sure it’s a good movie, but it leaves an impression.

I also remember being sort of nonplussed by Lord of Illusions when I saw it in the theater, but Horror Queers did an episode about it that made me think I need to see it again.

OMG how did I miss Klute on my list? AND STACIE I am so thrilled for you to experience Midnight Offerings for the first time!!!!! Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhh I'm so jealous!

La noche del virgen was me! I got to see this at a festival at Philamoca in Philadelphia. There's basically only 3 characters in the film, the movie is awash in every kind of humour/liquid that can come from the human body, and I learned so many Spanish swear words.

I am surprised at how many good movies there have been in the one votes. Most of the ones I have seen I have legitimately liked.

The Lady in White is such a weird mix, and I remember seeing ads for it when I was a kid. I enjoyed it a lot.

Lake Bodom was fun. More Finnish horror.

Land of the Dead was the only one of the Nu-Romero movies that I really liked. The other two were meh, if interesting because at least they were different from the general zombie movies.

I like Ma just because Octavia Spencer seemed to be having a blast. If Octavia Spencer as Ma became a new Jason or Freddy, I would be ecstatic.

The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue is so good.

I think this is the last page for me to have had a chance at a one vote movie. I am ashamed for being so terribly basic.

I feel so proud every time I see one of my "one vote only" picks on here.

And this time it was...Klute!

I first heard of Klute because it was included in Terror in the Aisles so I've thought of it as horror from the very beginning. Not to mention it's a super scary (and great!) movie. Maybe Fonda's Oscar win for this pulls it more towards the thriller/drama side for most people.

I was about to post something along these same lines! I loved the book so much though and anytime that happens, no matter the quality of movie, Im always like 'at least it was enjoyable!' I had the same reaction to Annihilation tbh, and in both cases I think the true triumph was just being able to actually adapt the books' absurdity relatively well (more so for the latter)

I watched Ma with a friend recently and it was honestly the most fun I've had watching a movie in ages. I'm in the market for other horror movies that match the energy of Ma, both in terms of atrocity and pure entertainment value. Much love for Octavia and the ever-changing length of her wig.

@Unknown -- Ma is such a good time! You might like Happy Death Day if you haven't seen it yet. Lots of fun.

No other "Lo" fans? Here's what I wrote to Stacie: "Found this randomly on Netflix one time. I'm not sure it's *good*, it's a little Theater Kid, but damn, it gets me in my wheelhouse, the part of me that loves a good simple Hellblazer story."

I'll check out Happy Death Day! Been on my list for a while, I've heard many positive reviews. Thanks for the recommendation!

Based on that photo ALONE, I knew I had to get my eyeballs Mausoleum. And it was great! And totally out of control.

What's hilarious is that I forgot the name of it, and watched Mortuary by accident first, which is a whole different movie, BUT features BILL FREAKING PAXTON skipping through the graveyard, giddy with love. Totally worth the mistake.
