FINAL GIRL explores the slasher flicks of the '70s and '80s...and all the other horror movies I feel like talking about, too. This is life on the EDGE, so beware yon spoilers!

easy like monday mornin'

A few things of note!

- I almost forgot...this is the last week to vote in the Rondo Awards! Voting closes April 3rd. The ballot is daunting and it generally serves to remind me how many movies I have not seen in the last year; however, you don't have to vote in every category. Final Girl is nominated in category 15, Best Horror Blog. I think that's neat and I'm thrilled to be nominated.

- Magnet has snagged US distribution rights to [REC] 2 and...gasp...they're planning an early July theatrical release for the film. THEATRICAL! RELEASE! THEATRICAL! I can't wait.

- This week on The Scare-ening, Heidi and I will be welcoming Joe Bob Briggs as our special guest. Joe Bob Briggs! Yes, of Drive-In Theater and MonsterVision. Yes, that Joe Bob Briggs. Yes, it's very exciting, and yes, you should call in to talk to him.

- I realize that there is an abundance of exclamation marks and a dearth of pictures in this post. Well, 1) there are many exciting things happening in this post and as such exclamation marks are appropriate (though, yes, overused)...and 2) Blogger is being a cooch swell.

Cool on Joe Bob Briggs--he reviewed my first flick and gave it 4 out of 4 stars on his Drive In--very cool.

Also, I voted for you in the Rondo awards, so now you owe me BIG. I had to hit SEND and everything!

I just want to know what happened to the revamped Wittenberg Door... it has not been updated in a couple years.

It cracks me up that Joe Bob Briggs has been the host of the Drive In, the Daily Show's This Week In God and been editor for a Christian Humor magazine.

Joe Bob Briggs? No shit?*

* My bladder is seriously going to explode if you say yes.

No shit! Now clean up after yourself.

And call up with a question or comment for Joe Bob!

The time difference would kill me well before I'd have the chance to cave under the enormous pressure of asking a question of the great JBB.

(Having said that, I'm rather curious as to which films -if any- he'd most enjoy contributing audio commentary tracks.)

I'll be sure to ask for you! :) Great question.

Monster Vision! Holy shit! I haven't thought about that in years. I am so excited!

And please tell me you are going to this. Texas is scary enough.

There goes my vote. Your blog and Rue Morgue are two of my favorite places to read about my favorite movie genre. Keep rocking, you!

I don't want this to sound like rubbing in your face, but I can not believe you guys didn't get to see [rec]2 in theaters. No way! Watching it in a huge-ass screen was what made it so fun for me. It felt as if you took the first [rec] and made it into a video game รก la Left 4 Dead. Pure awesome.
