don't quote me...

From an interview with Rob Zombie in issue 3 of Are You Going? magazine, 2002:

Q: How do you feel about big budget remakes of Dawn of the Dead and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre?

Zombie: I feel it's the worst thing any filmmaker can do. I actually got a call from my agent and they asked me if I wanted to be involved with the remake of Chain Saw. I said no fucking way! Those movies are perfect- you're only going to make yourself look like an asshole by remaking them. Go remake something that's a piece of shit and make it good. Like with my movie (House of 1000 Corpses) I have elements of Chain Saw in it because I love that movie so much, but I wouldn't dare want to "remake" it. It's like a band trying to be another band. You can sound like The Beatles, but you can't be The Beatles.

Oh, Rob. If only I'd read this interview a week ago- talk about the burning, hard-hitting questions I would've had!

I would've liked to see "Scoop" Ponder using Zombie's words against him, thereby reducing him to a puddle of tears.

You know, Stacie, I think you can get a salve for that burning, and the hard-hitting might go away with a couple Excedrin...

Is it that he's a hypocrite or that he feels the original 'Halloween' was far enough from perfect that it lent itself to being remade?

Either way, his motives in the matter are mucho suspecto.

Nice find, Stac.

Ooooh...hopefully his Halloween is better than the Dawn of the Dead remake which was actually quite good. Otherwise, insert egg on face.

You know, a few years ago I vowed to not watch any of these new remakes...and now...I'm gonna watch a remake.

Great find! Oh jeez, I pray you get a second chance, or that someone else has the opportunity to pick this up and use it as you would have.

A few years ago I was curious about some of these remakes... and now, I'm fairly certain I won't bother with this one. Even what little he did confirm about this one has all but ruined it; if he had the slightest bit of integrity to accompany his (so far) C-grade directing talent i'd take a leap of faith and consider it. So sad...

Seriously? Seriously (please pick up on my inflection and the dry sarcasm in my second 'Seriously') Now I'm for sure not going to see this movie.

This is good stuff, right? I feel so Dateline: To Catch a Predator or something.

But I just can't stay mad at Rob Zombie...I love "Dragula" way too much.

He's obviously doing it for the money and that's it. Can't blame him, but he can also go fuck off. I haven't seen a re-make since The Blob that was worth a shit.

I'm not in the demographic he's targetting anyway since Michael Meyers looks like one of those fucktards in Slipknot now.
