awesome movie poster friday - the HOUSE edition, part one!

3D CROTCH!

Sorry, it had to be said. You'll see why.

Anyway, there's so much House-y goodness that the theme simply cannot be contained in one mere Awesome Movie Poster Friday. Stay tuned next week for more!

Meanwhile, this poster for House of the Devil:

...always strikes me as the love child of this poster for The Boogeyman:

...and this poster for The Unseen:

Onward!

Kinda wish the newer "House of Wax" was in 3D, but having it be like an R-Rated episode of "Goosebumps" is good enough. :)

The fourth one down (The House of the Devil one) reminds me of a Thomas Kincaid painting.

Shame "House of the Devil" movie didn't live up to the awesome promised by the coolness of it's posters.

I thought "3D Crotch" was a reference to the suggestively shaped curtains in the very top "House of the Devil" poster. Glad to have been wrong! Although I still find that poster suggestive.

Those "Maschera Di Cera" posters are fab!

I find it odd that one of the House of Wax posters pushes Charles Bronson so hard. I mean, sure, Death Wish was cool and all, but...

You're right. House of the Devil didn't live up to the posters: it exceeded them.

House of the Devil posters are just awesome. Everything that tries to go "retro" or "grindhouse" just throws on some scratchy textures and calls it good. These feel pretty authentic, as they resemble some great poster mother and fathers.

Not a lot of crazy stuff this week…

La Maschera di Cera = The Mask of Wax (Italian)

Das Kabinett des Professor Bondi “Der Klassiker under den modernen Grusel-Schockern” = The Cabinet of Professor Bondi “The classic among modern creepy shockers.” (German)

L’Homme au masque de cire = The Man With the Mask of Wax (French)

Paniek in het Wasmuseum = Panic in the Wax Museum (Dutch)

Los Crimenes del Museo de Cera = The Crimes in the Wax Museum (Spanish)

Vaxkabinettet = Wax Museum (Swedish)

That first House of the Devil poster looks more like the Deadly Friend one to me.

3D HOUSE OF WAX! Waxing right in your FACE!
Now modern audiences can enjoy the hottest attraction of ye olde turn-of-the-century amusement shows - matronly showgirls lining up and kicking each other in the BUTT.

In 3D!
