Any poster that claims "Maximum Overdrive" to be a "masterpiece of terror" deserves to be my new desktop.

WE MADE YOU! WE MADE YOU!

Holy crap! Those *Duel* posters - every last one of them! - are incredible. Nice digs Stacie!

And this is out of your theme for today but I couldn't help think of how many awesome posters there are for *The Cars That Ate Paris* too.

I've been driving a Zwarte Wagen for years and the number of pedestrian victims per gallon really is remarkable.

I'm glad you did this because I thought Death Proof was an original idea. When am I going to learn that Tarantino makes throwback movies, basically just adding his admittedly brilliant dialogue to ideas that have already been pioneered by someone else. You know what - now that I think on it, Stephen King did the exact same thing. Speaking of the Master of Horror, Maximum Overdrive kicks some serious ass. When it first came out everyone was like, wow, what a piece of shit that was - but now looking back on it I can see it for the masterpiece of B movie trash it is.

Time and time again, the Polish posters are just achingly beautiful, minimal and blunt. That Finnish one (KALMAN KAARA!) would be so damn cool on a black t-shirt; the pink logo rising up behind it sizzles and the fleeing/distraught Mom/Dad/tykes with the car bearing down on them is a heartwarming image.

Wow, I never thought I would ever see so many posters for The Car. They're pretty nice, the ones for Duel are just awesome. That French(?) one with the bulldozer opening its mouth is just sweet.

I find that Spanish poster for "Duel" to be especially rad. The title is even cool, from now on I may just call it "Challenge to Death."

...at least until I forget

i like the one for the Duel where it looks like Dennis Weaver's head is exploding.

that's just good marketing.

Well, since I'm a fool for Art Deco, I gotta say I love the car in the first English Car poster, and also the truck in the French Duel poster.

From the Unrequested Translation File: The Italian Car poster says, The Black Car. The Spanish one which says (pretty obviously) Invisible Killer, and the Belgian one says De Zwarte Wagen Dutch/Flemish for "the black car," and it says Mechanical Hell in French.

The Finnish one says Deadly Car or something close, and the Swedish title to the right (Dödens bil) says Death's Car.

And...that's it. Pierce already capably covered Reto a muerte.

Yeesh, pardon the crappy editing on that last post. Good luck getting through that screwed up syntax.

I can't decide which Duel poster I like better: The one on which Dennis Weaver's hair is on fire or the one on which he's just dropped a truck on his foot.

More Dutch death metal bands should be called De Zwarte Wagen.

I love how the guy in the "Reto A Muerte" poster just looks confused.

Like he's looking for the bagel place that used to be right next to the Asian market.

"I coulda sworn it was on this block..."

Are these things in chronological order? What's the FIRST killer car movie? Duel?

Just to prove that I clearly have too much time on my hands I checked.

Duel - 1971
The Car - 1977
Christine - 1983
Maximum Overdrive - 1986
Death Proof - 2007

That last Duel poster rocks.

The Car is one of the scariest movies from my youth. That and Trilogy Of Terror. I always had nightmares that cars were trying to run me down. I was only safe on the front porches of houses.
