FINAL GIRL explores the slasher flicks of the '70s and '80s...and all the other horror movies I feel like talking about, too. This is life on the EDGE, so beware yon spoilers!

pressing pause

Hi everyone! Just a heads up, there are family matters I need to attend to (yes, that rascally Urkel has done it again!) that necessitate my pressing pause on SHOCKtober here at the blog and on the podcast for the immediate future. Very sorry and hope to be back here (and at the pod) before too long. Thanks for understanding.

***ETA 10/22: Sorry to say I'm still not back to a regular schedule. I gave a wee update on things over at Final Girl After Dark (listen at the link or wherever you getcher podcasts). As I said there, it's safe to say that SHOCKtober is a bust both here and on the pod; I may push the Final Girl content into BLOODvember, barring any more unforeseen circumstances. At any rate, I appreciate all the thoughtful comments and messages--as always, you guys are the best!

Here's hoping that, whatever the nature of this emergency may be, it's nothing serious and that all will be well again soon at Final Girl Manor.

Sorry to hear this, darling Stacie. I wanted to just share that I’ve been a listener and reader of yours for years and it honestly feels like when I tune in (especially to your new FGAD pod) it’s as though I’m listening to my best friend of the other line, though weve never met. You make an audience member feel like that (I’m sure I’m not alone in this sentiment)… you’re a very special human & writer & show host and I’m so grateful for your presence in this space and frankly, existence in this world! I hope everything is okay in your family take all the time you need (though I’ll miss the weekly pod drops selfishly and terribly!) … we will all be here for you when you return!
I lastly wanted to suggest - since you’ve now done Omen 1 and 2 for FGAD - may I suggest Omen 3 starring horror ICON SAM NEILL? It’s got some profoundly fun moments, especially in the latter half of the film and could complete your Omen trilogy on the pod feed. :) I’d sure love to hear your take on O3! Anyway. Take care dear ol friend I’ve never met - sure glad you’re here. x

Dear Stacie, I sure hope everything is okay with your family, well all be here patiently waiting and devoted for your return! I have wanted to write to you, as a reader and listener for YEARSSSS, how much your work and voice mean to me. When I read a piece and especially tune in (most recently to your new masterpiece FGAD) it feels as though I’m hearing my best friend on the other end, despite our never meeting… I am sure I’m not alone in this sentiment either! Your ability to reach through the speaker or screen and make me laugh, give me a hug, sit with me and chat cinema are all so deeply precious to me. I’m so glad for your presence in this space and I’m sure grateful you exist!
I also wanted to suggest perhaps rounding out your prior 2 Omen episodes with Omen 3 - final conflict starring the horror ICON that is Sam Neill?! It’s got some stunning visuals and moments, especially in the latter half! And could round out a trilogy of episodes on your FGAD feed. :)
Anyway, just a gentle suggestion from a most devoted fan. I hope your family is ok and please take all the time you need. I know we will patiently await your return and always have your back, my best friend I’ve never met!! Take care, and thank you Stacie.

You are missed, especially at this time of year. Hoping all is well with family. And that you’re getting a chance to practice your Diane Keaton impersonation, given her recent passing!

Very sorry to hear about your five-family-emergencies-in-a-trench coat, Stacie! Hope things are resolved soon, and I personally think “Blood-vember” (Blood-Giving? Thanks-Killing?) sounds like a fabulous idea. Imagine watching a terrible Thanksgiving movie every day of next month 😱😱😱
