Terrific collection! Interesting to note that the U.S. posters all pretty much retain the Freddy Single Bulging Eyeball, despite the fact that he doesn't look that way in the movies. It almost makes it seem as though - gasp - someone put thought into creating a visual consistency across all of the sequels. I guess that's meant to appeal to the 2.4% of the audience crossover between horror fans and marketing dorks.

I think my favorite bit of typography, though is the stabby descenders on the Thai ones!
Consider me a part of that 2.4%, burbanked. I love that the poster had a visual theme throughout virtually the entire series...in fact, I like it more than the films themselves!

If anything, the posters are more consistent than the storylines turned out to be. Nice to know the marketers are doing their jobs even if the filmmakers aren't.

I'm probably alone in thinking this, but Renny Harlin directed the hell out of Nightmare 4 and it may be the only really good thing he ever did.
The Japanese poster for Nightmare 5 is both amazing and disturbing at the same time...

I think I'm with Stacie, I enjoyed some of these posters more than the films.
I think my favorite is the eighth one down, the one for part 3 in I think Japanese. Not only does it have Freddy getting smacked down with magic but if you look at the bottom right corner it also appears that Freddy is doing jazz hands!
p.s. Stacie, maybe you should start a gang/band. That way you could bust into song and dance during a knife fight.
The second poster from the top for the first Nightmare almost looks like the playbill for a Grand Guinol Broadway musical-autopsy with tuxedoed half-dead victim-dancers called the Langenkampettes! Um...am I alone on this?
The poster for A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge is the best thing about that movie. Well, that and Clu Gulager bitching about the exploding parakeet.

Did that blond kid/Japanese poster really put asses in the seats? I have never actually seen that before and it looks like me at that age in a NOES ad campaign. And that is definitely not a good thing.
