Lot of shooting from low angles, big sky, that sorta thing. And Lifeforce feels very much like a movie by the guy who made Poltergeist minus the big-shot producer who could reign him in and force him to make some damn sense.

(I think Hooper was pretty f'd up on drugs at the time, so yeah, I'm sure Speilberg did a lot of the heavy lifting, but I just mean that he stepped in to finish what was still essentially a Hooper joint)gil mannnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13599870.post-413587534157599022010-10-29T01:02:20.815-04:002010-10-29T01:02:20.815-04:00Re: "High Tension".

It does come across as homophobic in my eyes, and Alexandre Aja as a director fits into the same category as Eli Roth and Rob Zombie to me, wherein the only reason women are in their films are to be naked, sexualized, and otherwise victimized and fodder for slashers/monsters. So although maybe I'm reading too much into it or taking it all too seriously (I'm always open for intelligent discussion), I usually watch their films with reservation.Mattnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13599870.post-88842567100457534332010-10-28T21:52:30.725-04:002010-10-28T21:52:30.725-04:00High Tension would be in my top 20 if it wasn’t fo...High Tension would be in my top 20 if it wasn’t for that darn meddling twist.Banned In Queenslandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14879785662764733057noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13599870.post-69513059063250242422010-10-28T19:06:24.669-04:002010-10-28T19:06:24.669-04:00Man, like 18 of my 20 are in the top 75.
