I don't think anyone who grew up in the wake of Jaws every really likes scores that don't feature full orchestras.

It doesn't help that synth scores are all about using state-of-the-art technology that is noticeably obsolete about 10 seconds later.

Was the Near Dark score by Tangerine Dream?Cousin Barnabashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12100748097966533023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13599870.post-32907543202924015492010-03-09T22:57:59.037-05:002010-03-09T22:57:59.037-05:00Heh, it's probably best not to think on the sc...Heh, it's probably best not to think on the science much.

Actually, Near Dark gets me thinking about movie scores. I love this movie, but the music is horribly dated. I don't know if anything can (or SHOULD) be done about that, like updating music every once in a while...eh, probably not. It's just that some 80s horror music is SO BAD (A Nightmare on Elm Street, I'm looking at you).Stacie Ponderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07784074536271206501noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13599870.post-2325171221911128672010-03-09T22:50:33.736-05:002010-03-09T22:50:33.736-05:00This is one of those movies I've been meaning ...This is one of those movies I've been meaning to add to my collection for a while now. I think I've been a little resistant to fully embracing this movie because I liked the badguys more than the protagonists. They could have ditched Nathan Petrelli and his entire plotline and the film would have been better for it. Two hours of Easy Rider vampires killing their way through the desert would have been a perfect movie.

And the bad science behind all the blood transfusions always bothered me. Everyone was swapping blood at the end as though mixing blood/pH types wouldn't kill you faster than a bullet.

Am I over thinking this?Cousin Barnabashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12100748097966533023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13599870.post-68700199922747010172010-03-09T18:40:57.041-05:002010-03-09T18:40:57.041-05:00Ha!
