This isn't to say Monsieur Zombie might not make a decent movie, but it seems like Zombie vs Carpenter will be crass vs. class. Loud vs. quiet. Porn vs...err, what's a romantic movie? You get the idea.

Zombie vs Carpenter...in the World...Series of Love. I ...I haven't seen either of Mr. Zombie's efforts. I avoided them because I heard him talk in interviews about making a horror movies like he was the Second Coming. This talk of "re-imagining" Halloween sounds like more of the same. We really don't need that. I really wish everyone would just leave bad enough (dude, Tyra Banks was in the Halloween. 'Nuff said) alone. If Hollywood can't come up with an original idea of its own, it'd be better off just re-releasing the original to theatres. The youth set would go because they have heard so much about it and the old fans would go for the chance to see the movie on the big screen again.SikeChickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08135793754935172240noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13599870.post-1149604141953414232006-06-06T10:29:00.000-04:002006-06-06T10:29:00.000-04:00I feel that as long as Zombie doesn't write the sc...I feel that as long as Zombie doesn't write the script, it could be an okay movie. But both 1000 Corpses and Devil's Rejects suffered immensely from his total inability to write realistic dialogue. He has a great cinematographer and set designer working for him, so that's a bonus, but honestly, Rejects was stupid, immature, meandering, pointlessly graphic, and demeaning a bit.

That said, it was kind of fun, but in a trashy "I need to wash myself" kind of way.John Barleycornhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08138035686166958662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13599870.post-1149558020604769332006-06-05T21:40:00.000-04:002006-06-05T21:40:00.000-04:00I too found "House of 1000 Corpses" less than "thr...I too found "House of 1000 Corpses" less than "thrilling"...however..."The Devil's Rejects" kicked some serious ass!!!!

Zombie is damn near as sick as I am, so with a classic as background, this movie could be what I've looked for in Halloween since the second one....

ps.. I loathed House of 1000 Corpses, and had no intention of ever watching another Rob Zombie movie, until people I trusted started telling me The Devil's Rejects was not only better, but leaps and bounds better than Corpses. And they're right.

If Rob Zombie wants to reboot Halloween, and he has Carpenter's blessing (which he says he does) then I'll keep a nervous eye on it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13599870.post-1149535059110848862006-06-05T15:17:00.000-04:002006-06-05T15:17:00.000-04:00I think this could be great. It's '70s-style grindhouse exploitation flick, and it rocks!

If Zombie can bring his original point of view and some of that '70s grittiness to what is now a fairly tame concept (man in mask kills people - yawn), this could be a wonderful even for horror fans.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
